Witsel was chosen for it's resemblance to our old planet, Mertens. Just like Mertens, it has many sources of fresh water, making life a lot easier, and also a lot of fertile soil. Witsel was the only planet in our solar system that also had life on it. The deep forests and huge oceans were just the start. There were more than a million species of flora and fauna and the levels of oxygen are almost identical to Mertens. Witsel has four seasons just like Mertens, however the overall temperature is 15 degrees celcius hotter than on Mertens. Witsel is closer to the sun, but its ozone layer is a lot thicker than Mertens's, allowing to absorb more heat and the planet remains at a relatively cool temperature so that life on it doesn't disappear due to excessive heat. It's mass is less than Mertens' and thus the gravity is lower as well, meaning that despite our mass remaining the same, our weight decreased as weight is the effect of gravity on mass. This is why it is easy for us to jump up, but takes a while to fall back down. Also, this is why we are slightly taller than when we lived on Mertens because on Witsel there is less force (gravity) pushing down on our spines. Not only does gravity still affect us but so does friction, air resistance, applied forces, and more.
